The multiverse is made up of many planes of existence. Think of it like a great wheel, with layers moving outward from the center. Each plane plays a different role in the cycle of spirit and soul.

🌍 The Material Plane – The Center of Experience

This is the world where most D&D adventures happen. It's full of life, danger, and discovery. Spirits from the Outer Planes are sometimes reborn here to experience a physical life. But once they enter, they forget who they were.

To the spirits of the outer realms, visiting the Material Plane is like taking a vacation or going on a vision quest—brief, intense, and disorienting. They live, learn, and die here, and when they do, their soul returns to its original home.

Note: In the Material Plane, a spirit can only see the present moment. It forgets the bigger picture.

🌀 Transitive Planes – The Highways Between Worlds

These are paths that connect everything:

đŸ”„ The Inner Planes – The Forge of Creation

These planes are made of pure elemental forces: fire, water, earth, and air. They're the building blocks of the Material Plane.

🌌 The Outer Planes – The Realms of Spirit

This is where most spirits truly belong. Each outer plane reflects a different kind of philosophy or emotion—good, evil, chaos, order, and everything in between.

When a spirit dies in the Material Plane, it returns here to rest, reflect, and decide whether to reincarnate again.

Some notable planes:

🔁 The Cycle

  1. A spirit lives in the Outer Planes, fully aware of its nature.
  2. It chooses (or is chosen) to reincarnate into the Material Plane.
  3. Once there, it forgets its origin and lives a new life.
  4. Upon death, the spirit returns to its home plane, often changed or grown by the experience.
  5. The cycle may repeat.
